Welcoming the 2010-2011 Interns!

As many of you know, young writers within our program who demonstrate an interest in becoming teachers of writing are invited to intern within our program. Internships provide these pre-service teachers training in promising instructional practices, curriculum design, and meaningful assessment strategies. Interns set individual learning goals, reflect on their work over time, and are provided mentoring support throughout the year. They are also widely adored by those that they lead. We’ve been so fortunate to work with Sarah Hanson from Alden High School, Sarah Wakefield and Laura Stockman from Kenmore Middle, and Alyssa Frey from Clarence High School this year!

This summer, a cast of new interns will be joining this bunch. Nate Harris is a Lockport High School student, Katie Beth Halloran attends Williamsville, Monica Wrobel is an Immaculata student, and Jenna Kersten is at Mount Mercy Academy.

We are all looking forward to learning (and laughing) a great deal with them this summer!
